Coal Mining

Mining is carried out by open pit method using state-of-the art, Heavy Earth Moving Equipment with fuel efficient Diesel Engines fitted with Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology along with V-ACT Electronic Control Unit (ECU), to produce desired quantity of coal with due care for quality.

Coal Processing

The Coal Preparation Plant (CPP) is one of the key facilities of MCL for processing the raw coal from the mine into:

1. Clean coal consisting of peas and nuts to meet the needs of the customers,
2. Middlings for use in mine-mouth power plant being established by MCL
3. Rejects for filling the excavated areas as part of the measures under Environmental Management Plan.
